Our History
Our Birth
With a vast amount of experience working for others, founder Luke Penny decided to ‘give it a go’ on his own. Initially founded as Penny Fabrications a new business was born. The workshop location was sought and purchased, tools and machines moved in and the adventure began. With grand plans in mind, we were underway.
Council Vehicle Fit Outs
As well as our normal fabrication work we started manufacturing for a local truck body builder doing all aluminium components for a range of different products. We fabricated a vast range of aluminium toolboxes, water tanks, sign racks, and even truck bodies.
We Love New Equipment
With new orders rolling in the door and a constant flow of repeat business we decided to make a few small purchases. The addition of a press break folder and guillotine dramatically increased our onsite capabilities with custom work. Being able to now complete these tasks onsite increased productivity and accuracy resulting in a far better product.
Things Got Crowded…
With growth came the need for more space and a better, more modern work area. So… we built a shed. A big shed! Now operating out of a 680m2 workspace we have the ability to multi task and have multiple large or small jobs underway. During this time we rebranded to Penny Industries.
All New Designs…
We love making canopies, trays, and trailers but decided to improve our designs. In 2015, we decided to strengthen our canopies framework and majorly improve the door seal design.
The design changes allowed for a greater use of internal canopy space. With the addition of a flat floor design no space was lost when customising canopies with different draw systems. Included in these changes a general facelift was given in keeping with a modern design.
Selling Fast…
We decided to open the front gates, and not be so incognito. It turns out marketing works. We got a website, a facebook, a google….and all the other crap, whatever it is. All of a sudden, Penny Industries is on the map.

Expansion..
We out grew our initial production facility so expanded into a larger premise down the road. Fabrication continued and we kept fine tuning our product and growing.
As time progressed we began to understand that many of our customers mostly wanted the same product. We started to developed a standardised canopy range with the assistance of laser cutting.
Exponential growth..
Word got out that our canopies are quality. We started ramping up our production and introduced a whole new canopy range to suit the large US utes hitting the Australian car market.
New product range..
Throughout 2022 we’d been trialling and fine tuning our truck tray bodies and canopies. We are ramping up production and they are now available for the mid sized truck range.
